The Marcello Giordani Foundation

The Italian selection of the Marcello Giordani International Vocal Competition will take place at the Teatro della Fortuna of Fano, Italy, from May 9 to 13, 2012.  The Fano Competition has as its objective the selection of young singers for the production of Verdi's opera "Falstaff" for the official opera season 2012/2013 of the Teatro della Fortuna.

The Marcello Giordani Foundation International Vocal Competition, in collaboration with the Gerda Lissner Foundation, will take place in New York from February 27th to March 3rd, 2012.  The final round of the Competition will be held in Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center on Saturday, March 3rd at 7pm, and will be in the form of a concert open to the public.  Visit the Merkin Concert Hall website for ticket information.

The Competition, now in it's second edition, has as its objective to lead young talented singers toward a successful career on the operatic stage. To this end, the MGF proposes to organize two selections, the first one to take place in New York from February 27th to March 3rd, 2012, and the second in Italy at the Teatro della Fortuna of Fano Italy from May 9th to May 13th 2012.

In addition to the awarding of the cash prices, the Competition will offer as a special prize, a debut in Verdi’s Falstaff, offered by the management of the Teatro della Fortuna, Fano, Italy which avails itself of the orchestra of the Rossini Opera Festival.
