Winners of the Marcello Giordani Foundation International Vocal Competition

The finals of the Marcello Giordani Foundation International Vocal Competition were held at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center on March 3, 2012. 18 finalists were presented in concert accompanied by pianist Jonathan Kelly.
The competition, presented in collaboration with the Gerda Lissner Foundation, awarded $24,500 in cash prizes and a number of opportunity prizes including a role in a production of Falstaff at Teatro della Fortuna in Fano, Italy, a role in an opera at the Crested Butte Music Festival and a role or concert at the Vero Beach Opera in Florida.

The Marcello Giordani Foundation, in collaboration with the Gerda Lissner Foundation, will organize the Marcello Giordani Foundation International Vocal Competition. The Competition, now in its second edition, has as it's objective to lead talented young singers toward a successful career on the operatic stage. To this end, the MGF proposes to organize two selections, the first one to take place in New York from February 27th to March 3rd, 2012, and the second in Italy at the Teatro della Fortuna of Fano from May 9th to May 14th 2012.

Join Marcello Giordani and Met Opera colleague Angela Meade for an evening of arias and duet dedicated to the memory of Tenor Salvatore Licitra.
Special guests include singers from the Marcello Giordani Vocal Competition in Catania, Italy.
Legendary soprano Renata Scotto will be honored with the MGF Lifetime Achievement Award.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Marcello Giordani Vocal Competition to be held in New York in Feburary 2012.
